We started back our live shows this week (limited seating, limited dates, and as many health precautions as we can possibly take, of course) and we had a blast getting to share our music with a live audience again. Our dad and his family are all from West Virginia and our brother, Matt, was also born there when we lived in Huntington for a couple of years. We are all @BRADPAISLEY fans and "I'm Gonna Miss Her" seemed like the perfect song to end our tour with @Bass Pro Shops.
In other news, mom has got a new bass, a 2014 Chadwick Folding Bass for traveling! A panel on the back pops off and the neck folds into the body of the bass, then everything else goes inside too. The whole thing weighs 50 pounds, so it is perfect for the airlines and means we do not have to borrow one when we are away.
For Bass Pro events, mom tries to get there an hour before soundcheck to get set up, but sometimes there is no space in the early car, in which case she prays a lot haha. Both the stage bass and road bass use a Fishman Full Circle pick up, and we have not heard any difference in the sound. "Rocky Top" is one of the most well-known bluegrass songs. It became popular when the Osborne Brothers released it in 1967. With the recent passing of Sonny Osborne, we wanted to honor him and show our appreciation for all that he contributed to the music we love.
One question we are getting a lot is about the mics and the wind. We specifically faced the direction that would help our bodies block a lot of the wind and then our audio engineer, Troy, is a genius!
Another question we always get is about which mics we use, and they are handcrafted ones from Ear Trumpet Labs that we were able to buy thanks to our Patreon community. All the models are named after grandmothers, and we use a Louise and two smaller Edwina.
