We have had the amazing opportunity to tour Ireland four times and, for a bluegrass band, it just doesn't get much more fun than pulling out your instruments and joining the locals for a jam session in a pub. After our third tour, we decided to add an Irish song in our show and Katie suggested the "Swallowtail Jig." Emmett wrote the interlude part you hear and it just put the icing on the cake.

The Ozarks just never fail in providing gorgeous locations for our videos and Dogwood Canyon is one of the all-time greatest locations to enjoy the outdoors here. Fun fact about filming "Smoky Mountain Rain" is that a lot of other people enjoy this location and after a few takes getting photobombed by people running behind us, fishermen setting up shop in view of the camera, and groups talking loudly, Aaron just turned his cameras on and became our crowd control. In the late 1980s a horseman came across a remote Ozark Mountains woodshop and, out of curiosity, went inside. The horseman was Johnny Morris, who at the time was planning to buy a defunct 10,000 acre nature retreat. And since that day, the two craftsmen inside - a father and son duo - have created hundreds of one-of-a-kind pieces for Big Cedar, from tables and chairs to headboards and mantels like the one in this video.

An old country classic, featuring Matt! "Amarillo By Morning" is a brand new song for us, so we're pretty excited to share it with you all. We have a ton of new content coming soon, so be sure to subscribe and press the bell icon if you haven't already!

Our band is very guitar-driven and Matt is a huge backbone in keeping us together and allowing the rest of us to do what we need to with our instruments. When a lot of people might have wanted to learn fancy solos, he focused on mastering rhythm for years.

Matt plays a Collings D1ATS guitar. It was Bill Collings' last project before he passed away, he studied 30 pre-war Martins and took aspects of them he really liked. Matt's has an Adirondack spruce top, mahogany back and the wood is temper cured to age it in a fast way. It's a great guitar, super smooth and is light, which is important as he has to hold it a lot!!

He uses D'Addario XS Acoustic Phosphor Bronze 13-56 medium strings for a warm sound and in a couple videos, like California (https://youtu.be/vqOzG_A8tMs), he plays a lighter color Bourgeois Country Boy Deluxe. He also has an Eastman AC630 BD Jumbo at home, as well as dad's 10 guitars to play around with!

Ellen Petersen's Season 14 American Idol audition with "I Wanna Be A Cowboy's Sweetheart." "The Beverly Hillbillies" at the end was not a set up! Haha. I am just thankful I remembered how to play the song!

I initially auditioned for American Idol while they were on their Bus Tour in 2014 at the Branson Landing. I then advanced to Kansas City, Missouri where this clip was filmed while I auditioned for the celebrity judges: Keith Urban, Harry Connick Jr., and Jennifer Lopez. I made it through Hollywood Week and advanced to the top 48, and was eventually cut in Judgment Week, right before making it to the live shows.

My American Idol journey was an amazing experience and I am so thankful I had this opportunity. It was also incredible for both me and the rest of the Petersen family as it has given us lots of exposure and helped bring awareness to our family band.

When they informed me I wasn't advancing I was filled with peace and hope because I knew God had something different and better for me. Better may not mean more money or fame, but it does mean a life spent growing closer to Him and glorifying Him with the gifts He has given me. Thank you to everyone for believing in me and encouraging me! It has meant more to me than you will ever know.
