This is one of our favorite bluegrass songs of all time! Louisa Branscomb wrote "Steel Rails" and it was recorded by the one and only, Alison Krauss. We performed this song years ago when Emmett first joined our group and worked it back up because so many of you requested it in the comments!

And this is our first video with the blond dobro Emmett acquired in early 2021. It's a Byrl with a deeper sound, perfect for hard-driving bluegrass songs. His original mahogany Scheerhorn isn't going anywhere, it's just more suited to melodic, pretty songs. We also bought Emmett a travel dobro for Christmas so he doesn't have to put his in the belly of an airplane when we're on tour. A man can never have too many dobros, right?

The The railway was the dream of millionaire racing drivers Captain John Edwards Presgrave ("Jack") Howey and Count Louis Zborowski. The RH&DR has been drawing crowds since it opened in 1927 and now operates the most complete collection of one-third full-sized steam locomotives in the world. These small but perfectly-formed trains, take just over an hour to complete the full journey from Hythe to Dungeness but there are opportunities to get off and explore along the way too. The natural starting place for a journey on the RH&DR is at its station in the historic and pretty town of Hythe. It’s one of six along the track, which stretches 13 miles across the picturesque Romney Marsh to Dungeness, one of the largest expanses of shingle in the world, a place of other-worldly beauty and a designated National Nature Reserve.

The fleet of ten original steam locomotives remain in service, each covering up to 10,000 miles (16,000 km) a year. The RH&DR is still the only user of the 4-8-2 Mountain type locomotive in the UK, with No 6 Samson and No 5 Hercules in regular service.
With several stations in between, all within walking distance of the beautiful Kent coastline, the railway gives passengers an opportunity to explore this unique corner of Kent. Coast & country walks, with all manner of wildlife & flora to be seen, cycle rides, medieval churches and iconic lighthouses are all on your doorstep.

The Great Lakes Big Rig Challenge (2nd Edition) loaded drag racing compilation! This Quebec style uphill side by side Semi Truck drag racing competition can only be found at one location in the United States... Onaway Speedway! This sport is most popular in Canada. Onaway Speedway has a dedicated uphill track specifically designed for this style of drag racing. Drivers and teams came from all around, some over 1000 miles from the US and Canada just to race here. These clips show some of the awesome loaded drag racing action on track from the May 18-19 weekend. Competitors hooked up to trailers loaded down with 123,000lbs of lumber, and raced uphill. A couple of trucks broke, but most had great races. Enjoy!

CHARLEY PRIDE - LIVE IN CANADA! FULL CONCERT. RIP

Charley Pride, whose rich baritone voice and impeccable song-sense altered American culture, died Saturday, December 12, 2020, in Dallas, Texas of complications from the latest pandemic sickness at age 86.

Born a sharecropper’s son in Sledge, Mississippi, on March 18, 1934, Pride emerged from Southern cotton fields to become country music’s first Black superstar and the first Black member of the Country Music Hall of Fame.

“No person of color had ever done what he has done,” said Darius Rucker in the PBS American Masters film Charley Pride: I’m Just Me.

Pride was a gifted athlete who at first thought baseball would be his path from poverty, labor, and strife. But his musical acumen was more impressive than his pitching arm or his hitting skills, and he emerged as one of the most significant artists at RCA Records, with chart-topping hits including “Kiss An Angel Good Mornin’,” “Is Anybody Goin’ to San Antone,” and “Mountain of Love.” He won the Country Music Association’s Entertainer of the Year award in 1971, its top male vocalist prize in 1971 and 1972, and a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2020.

Charley Frank Pride was not the first Black artist to make important contributions to country music — DeFord Bailey was a star of the Grand Ole Opry from 1927 through 1941 — but Pride was a trailblazer who emerged during a time of division and rancor.

After a stint in the Army, time working at a Missouri smelting plant, and some unsuccessful attempts to break into big-league baseball, he came to Nashville in 1963 and made demonstration recordings with help from manager Jack Johnson.

Those recordings languished for two years until Johnson met with producer Jack Clement, who offered songs for Pride to learn. On August 16, 1965, Clement produced Pride at RCA Studio B, and the results of that session impressed RCA’s Chet Atkins, who signed Pride to a recording contract.

In 1967, Pride’s recording of Clement’s “Just Between You and Me” broke into country’s Top Ten, and Pride quit his job as a smelter. Iron ore was behind him, and platinum records lay ahead.

Between 1967 and 1987, Pride delivered 52 Top 10 country hits, won Grammy awards, and became RCA Records’ top-selling country artist. His musicality opened minds and superseded prejudice.

“We’re not color blind yet, but we’ve advanced a few paces along the path and I like to think I’ve contributed something to that process,” Pride wrote in his memoir.

Charley Pride escaped the cotton fields, where labor hurt his hands, back, and knees. He transcended and ascended through connection. Through fortitude and artistry, he became a member of the Grand Ole Opry and a beloved American icon.
